Rye whiskey is known and loved for its distinct character which comes directly from the grain itself - spicy, peppery, yet smooth with a dry finish. Made from a grain bill of 60% rye and 40% wheat, both sourced within 25 miles of the distillery, Chuckanut Straight Rye exemplifies these characteristics in spades.
Our rye and wheat is grown just up the road from the distillery, and is ground, mashed, and fermented in traditional handmade Douglas Fir wooden washbacks on site. After distillation, we age it to perfection in new charred American oak casks and bottle it at a generous 46% alcohol.
We're pleased to introduce our interpretation of this true American Rye Whiskey that will delight in cocktails, on a big rock, or best of all, neat. We hope you enjoy it. Cheers!
"Fresh cut wood on the nose. Lovely notes of spicy rye, maple, honey, and vanilla on the palate. Soft and round-mouthfeel characters with a pleasant oaky and spicy finish." - Tasting notes from USA Spirits Competition.
Awards
Chuckanut Bay Distillery Rye received the gold medal at the New York International Spirits Competition, the USA Spirits Competition, and a bronze medal at the Bartender Spirit Awards.
