Always finding new ways to make effects accessible, JHS drops in with the JHS 3 Series Rotary Chorus. This pedal from Kansas City's finest summons an iconic modulation effect tone in a compact, intuitive, and streamlined form.
Originating from church organs, the rotary speaker modulation effect we know and love came from rotating speakers creating distinct Doppler effects. This natural modulating tone became a pretty big deal when it came to classic psychedelic and blues music, where a wavering, wobbling, and spacey kind of sound became irresistible. Today's 3 Series Rotary Chorus packs all that great Doppler sound into a sleek and efficient effect ready for performance.
The 3 Series Rotary Chorus operates through an incredibly streamlined fashion. Classic modulation Intensity and Speed controls coincide with an overall Volume control to harness the classic rotating speaker sound however you see fit. Crank up the Intensity or Speed to get highly expressive and effective modulation or roll it back for subtlety. Alongside these controls, the Rotary Chorus's Room switch allows for the addition of a roomy reverb on top of the modulation effect. This throws back to one of the foundational quirks of rotary speakers, where you'd get a natural "room microphone" sound when recording an actual one.
Dropping in with a great, analog tone as one of modulation's standby alternative choices, the 3 Series Rotary Chorus is an exceptional pick for those looking to dive into the world of rotary choruses for the first time or have a quick and reliable means of tapping into one of their favorite effects.
