Treasures from THE PHILADELPHIA / DELAWARE VALLEY COLLECTION at The Willing Mind. By exclusive arrangement with The Grand Review.  Print size 22 x 24, and consciously formatted to work with a 22 x 24 frame, or custom framed as you see fit.  For further easy, inexpensive framing options, please feel free to contact us.

It is difficult to fully describe the importance of Burlington's Birch Carriage Company.  As many have made reference to in various ways over the years, James Birch was to the carriage, the horse and buggy in all forms, and the rickshaw, the Henry Ford of those modes of transport.  He chose to stick with carriages rather than jump in on the new auto mobile craze, and eventually his empire went the way of............ the horse and carriage!

This is the cover of the 1907 Birch catalog, restored in-house by me and my crew.  This has been an evergreen, very popular with fans of Burlington, of carriages, of horses, and yes, of rickshaws.  Birch is one of four claimants to the title of inventor of the rickshaw, but he was the one who built thousands of them that were exported from Burlington to the rest of the world.

Burlington predates the colony of Pennsylvania and the city of Philadelphia.  It was the capitol of what was originally known as the colony of West Jersey and while mostly unsung these days it was, in its time, central to all things coming and going in the whole region.  Because it was a port city, the ebb and flow of the town heads to the Delaware River, but the rise of Philadelphia and Trenton in the 18th century and road and rail bypassing Burlington in the 19th and 20th centuries saw the slow fade of the town, yet preserved its housing stock and commercial district and relationship to the river in a fascinatingly time capsule sort of way.

Worth touring, it is full of history that is rather amazing.  Folks in New Jersey and the rest of the country, long enamored of Massachusetts and Virginia in the 1600s and how they're treated in the history books, need to raise Burlington right up there in the pioneer pantheon of important places in the New World in the 17th century.

A quick plug for a hard working local business that is part of the new breath of life in the old town, try Evermore Coffee Roasters, right in the ancient downtown.

A NOTE ON OUR PROCESS, OUR CHOICES AND THE QUALITY OF THE GRAPHIC CRAFTSMANSHIP THAT GOES INTO OUR PRINTS.

Every print we deem exciting enough to present to the public via our Etsy store or available here at our studio has gone through a number of steps.  The first of those is always discovering and falling in love with an obscure image, always an original that we can hold in our hands.  That image is speaking to us, sometime screaming “Don’t leave me here.  See what I am, what I was, what I can be, what I SHOULD be!”

There is a real sense of excitement involved, and a great many smiles and knowing grins when we make that deal and bring that ancient print, that battered photo, that scrap of ephemera that contains some scrap of genius from an unknown commercial artist home with us, knowing already how we mean to approach its restoration.

There is the heady promise of a further hunt just as real as what drags a weekend fisherman out of bed at 3AM to work a favorite brook as we start our research, looking for that great backstory, and both ready and willing to tumble down as many rabbit holes as are revealed to us to get that story.

Then there is a meticulous digital restoration that is as often as much fun as riding a vintage Moto Guzzi on a winding coastal road.  I don’t care if that sounds crazy, it really is like jumping in the saddle!  So many choices, so many chances to take to subtly or spectacularly give new life to otherwise permanently obscure images.

This dedication and the ongoing rush of joy in the accomplishment of it, and the opportunity to share the results in our studio and here on Etsy, is the fire of passion that keeps these engines roaring. We make every effort to ensure our customers are not just satisfied but thrilled, and we happily stand 100% behind our work.

Sleek look and perfect fit, but the stand stability needs a tweak
Color: A-Abyss Blue
I purchased the TiMOVO case in Abyss Blue for my iPad, specifically looking for something that offered protection without adding the bulk of a heavy-duty rugged case. After using it for a week, I think it is a very strong contender for the price, though there is one specific design element that keeps it from being a perfect 5-star product. The Positives: Precision Fit: The shell snaps on with a very satisfying click. The cutouts for the speakers and USB-C port are perfectly centered. Crucially, the cutout for the Touch ID power button provides ample room for my finger to unlock the device instantly—a problem I’ve had with other cases that are too thick around the button. The pen holder is also great. Aesthetics: The "Abyss Blue" is a sophisticated, muted navy that looks professional. I really appreciate the hard translucent back; it’s a nice touch that allows the Apple logo to show through while resisting fingerprints much better than clear glossy plastic. Auto Wake/Sleep: This functions exactly as it should. The magnets are strong enough to keep the cover closed when I toss it in my bag, so I haven’t had any issues with battery drain. Where it falls short (Why 4 Stars): While the materials are good, the trifold stand mechanism could be improved. When folded into the "viewing" (upright) position, the magnets holding the triangle shape aren't quite strong enough. If I tap the screen too enthusiastically while selecting a movie, the stand occasionally collapses. Additionally, while the hard back looks great, it is a bit slippery. A slight rubberized coating on the translucent polycarbonate would make holding the iPad one-handed much more secure. Verdict: If you want a slim, lightweight case that looks premium and protects against scratches, this is an excellent choice. However, if you do a lot of heavy tapping or drawing while the iPad is propped up, you might find the stand stability slightly lacking.

Cover
Color: A-Abyss Blue
Really happy with this case so far. It fits the iPad perfectly and all the buttons and camera openings line up like they should. The case feels lightweight but still protective, and the stand feature works well for watching videos or typing. The material has a nice grip so it’s not slippery in your hands. Great value for the price and easy to put on.
