The strongest, lightest, and fastest all-wind BOSS to date is the 2024 Litewave Wing. Even for the larger riders, riding in any wind speed has never been simpler. To optimize carving performance under stress, the tips are incredibly flexy and thin, including integrated torsion bars. There is no "session saver" like this board.
The 'parabolic sidecut' and wide tips of the Litewave Wing allow you to plan and soar upwind. Even under low light conditions, the broader tips provide an amazing "load and pop". Using this board is similar to snowboarding through endless powder. Our composite composition and vert-lam wood core improve riding characteristics and guarantee the longevity of your board.
The Litewave Wing is the board that started a lightwind revolution.
The Litewave Wing will add days to your riding allowing you to plane on the lightest wind days. The concave siderails shoot you upwind with minimal back foot pressure. The Wing is the ultimate tool for light wind performance and a must have for riders living in areas with inconsistent wind conditions.
From Litewave:
Litewave Wing and carbonWING....Why the strange shape?
Simply put, since it functions similarly to a snowboard. In addition to his 23 years of kiteboarding experience, Litewave Dave, the creator of Litewave kiteboards, has over 50 years of composites design expertise, as well as backgrounds in wakeboarding, snowboarding, and water ski design. Making creative kiteboards has proven to be greatly benefited by this crossover experience.
The Wing's unconventional parabolic side cut is the first feature that most people notice about it. The images above show how similar snowboarders' and kiteboarders' body positioning and weight distributions are during a steep carve or when a kiteboarder is simply cutting upwind. When edging, the rider's rear foot carries about 60% of their body weight.
Fun riding is enhanced by the Wing's sidecut in a number of ways. First, make your plans early. Your weight is shifted slightly back and your board position is on the edge, if you think about it. As can be seen in the images above, this places the vector of force and weight on the board's back corner. The Wing "flares out" where a standard shape board taper. In marginal conditions, this extra "triangle of planing area" is exactly where you need it to get upwind and continue. "Torsional rigidity" is a desirable quality in a kiteboard tip, just like it is in snowboarding. The last thing you want is for the corner to "twist off" under the weight. As a result, there is less of an angle upwind and side sliding. By incorporating "torsion bars" into the tips of the Wing, Litewave has increased "torsional rigidity" while reducing side-to-side flex, resulting in a firm "keel" that truly digs in.
Litewave Dave was able to build the Wing with more rocker than other lightwind kiteboards because of the early planing corner. This adds to the board's playfulness and ease of handling in turbulent situations. In addition to making jumping and freestyle much more fun, rocker makes it much easier for the rider to get over a wave.
The Wing's substantially concaved hull is its third design feature that is particularly helpful. The Wing's additional bottom concave will make carving easier for the rider and less knee-bang in the chop.
The Wing is offered in two material options: a full carbon composite construction or a classic fiberglass construction. The carbon WING has more spring and flexibility and weighs two pounds less. The board has more "pop" because carbon fiber bends back to its original position faster than fiberglass. It's like comparing an aluminum bicycle frame to one made of carbon. It's simply more "lively" feeling.
