Red Sonja #34 - Dynamite Entertainment (2008)

Hold your horses, Hyborian hustlers—this is Red Sonja #34 from Dynamite’s 2005 run, and it’s a game-changer wilder than a barbarian keg party! Mel Rubi’s cover slaps Sonja into the Stygian afterlife like she’s auditioning for a grim reaper’s sidekick, axe in hand and ready to rumble. This isn’t just a comic—it’s the She-Devil’s death knell (spoiler: she doesn’t stay dead), a collector’s holy grail that’ll make your stash the envy of every sword-slinger in town. Snag it before it’s lost to the River Styx!
Highlights:
  • Mel Rubi’s Epic Return: Rubi’s back on art duties, delivering a cover and interiors that scream “Sonja’s too badass to die!” It’s a visual feast of grit and glory—50% of copies rock this main cover, with Adriano Batista and Fabiano Neves splitting the rest.
  • The Big Sleep (Sort Of): This issue wraps “The River Styx” arc—Sonja kicks the bucket, meets Charon, and flips Death the bird to come back swinging. It’s the end of the original Sonja and the start of her reincarnation era. Iconic!
  • Shock Factor: Brian Reed’s script promises the “most shocking” moment in Sonja’s history—her fate’s revealed, and it’s a gut-punch that rewrote her legacy. Spoiler: she picks life over eternal nap time.
Current Value:
As of April 5, 2025, this beast is fetching $10-$20 in Near Mint condition on the secondary market—think eBay or that comic shop guy who hoards like a dragon. The death-and-rebirth hook, plus Rubi’s art, keeps it spicy, though the Batista or Neves covers might edge higher ($25-$30) if you’ve got a rare one. It’s a sleeper hit from Dynamite’s early days.
Expected Value Trends & Upcoming Events:
This sword’s sharpening fast! Sonja’s 55th anniversary is blazing through 2025, and with Dynamite’s legacy numbering hitting #675, her old-school arcs are hot again. SDCC or NYCC could bump this to $25-$40 if Rubi or Reed make waves. Long term, a Red Sonja movie (still teasing us from dev hell) or a nod to this arc could thrust it past $50-$75 by 2027. Grab it now—it’s a resurrection worth betting on!
Key Character Appearances:
  • Red Sonja (The OG She-Devil): She’s rowing down the River Styx, facing her fears and a fake Charon (spoiler: it’s Kulan Gath in disguise). Death offers her peace, but Sonja’s like, “Nah, I’ve got more skulls to crack.”
  • Kulan Gath (The Trickster): The sorcerer plays boatman to keep Sonja down, but Death itself says, “Not today, buddy.” Classic villain fail.
  • Death (The Referee): The big D steps in, giving Sonja the ultimate choice—chill in the afterlife or reboot for round two. Guess who’s back?
Why You Need This:
This isn’t just a comic—it’s a legend’s pivot point. Rubi’s art is a battle cry, and the story’s a turning page in Sonja’s saga—perfect for die-hard fans, Dynamite devotees, or anyone who wants to flex some Hyborian history. Don’t let it sail away—grab it, slab it, or trade it for a warlord’s ransom someday!

Excellent Budget Gaming Monitor
Size: 24.5" 200Hz/FHD
I’m very impressed with this monitor for the price. The 200Hz refresh rate makes gameplay feel incredibly smooth, especially in fast-paced games. The picture quality is sharp, colors look good, and the screen size is perfect for both gaming and everyday use.

Better off saving your money for a quality brand like Acer or Samsung
Size: 24"/FHD/240Hz
If you were looking for a decent gaming monitor with a good refresh rate, you better keep looking. Honestly, I wanted to really like this thing. For $120, it ticked off a lot of great features for me: at least 120Hz refresh rate, 1080p quality, and some nifty reticule marks for FPS gamers like myself. And for a year I had no problems with it until a few days ago. The ability to control input's, power, and toggle the reticule features all lie on one singular button behind the monitor. Here lie's the issue; if that power button starts messing up, there is no way to control or turn on/off the monitor. This is exactly what happened on my unit; the power button/control went out and the monitor was basically useless. I contacted Koorui support via email, and all I got was a vague "Did you confirm the button is really broken" response. Replied back that I did, and the manufacturer has ghosted me. Basically, I HIGHLY advise you just save up a few $80 or $100 dollars and get a decent entry level gaming monitor. By going cheap with this one, you will just end up probably wearing out the power/control button and be left with an expensive paperweight. If you are DIY repair savvy, I am sure that replacing the power/control button probably is not that big of a deal. In which case, go right ahead as it is a decent monitor for the price. But with that said, having this thing break leaves you with basically no options to get it fixed and good luck trying to get a hold of Koorui for support. Sadly, this is a growing trend on buying electronic's here on amazon from smaller brand sellers. *Update* So as of writing this review, I got Koorui to reach out to me. They would agree to replace the monitor for free, but I would have to front the shipping costs. They have their operations out in California, so if you live on the east coast then expect to pay around $40-50 for shipping for the monitor all the way out there (nearly half the monitor's value). I told Koorui that this just did not make any financial sense and they offered to refund me 50% of the monitor's value. However, they have yet to specify how they will send the refund, so I am unsure of whether I will see my partial refund when this is all said and done. So know that if you do proceed to get this monitor and need to return it past the 30 day return window covered by Amazon. TLDR: just save up an extra $50-100 for a big brand gaming monitor and save yourself the headache of dealing with all of this.

I feel fully enveloped in the work
Size: 34"/WQHD/1000R/HDR400
Changed my work at home experience. I feel fully enveloped in the work. I don't use it for gaming so can't comment on that. But for laptop heavy work days, this is a great experience.

Great color. Great Price. Easy to install
Display Size: 24 Inches, Size: SE2426H, Style: AMD Freesync
I just needed a replacement monitor for daily desk use and wasn't interested in gaming, etc. so this fit my needs beautifully. The color is great and the picture is crisp. It was a breeze to install. Great, everyday monitor and super size for home office desks where you won't need a theatre sized monitor.
