Mary-Alice Daniel's family moved from West Africa to England when she was a very young girl, leaving behind the vivid culture of her native land in the Nigerian savanna. They arrived to a blanched, cold world of prim suburbs and unfamiliar customs. So began her family's series of travels across three continents in search of places of belonging.A Coastline Is an Immeasurable Thing ventures through the physical and mythical landscapes of Daniel's upbringing. Against the backdrop of a migratory adolescence, she reckons with race, religious conflict, culture clash, and a multiplicity of possible identities. Daniel lays bare the lives and legends of her parents and past generations, unearthing the tribal mythologies that shaped her kin and her own way of being in the world. The impossible question of which tribe to claim as her own is one she has long struggled with: with: the Nigerian government recognizes her as Longuda, her father's tribe; according to matrilineal tradition, Daniel belongs to her mother's tribe, the nomadic Fulani; and the language she grew up speaking is that of the Hausa tribe. But her strongest emotional connection is to her adopted home: California, the final place she reveals to readers through its spellbinding history.Daniel's approach is deeply personal: in order to reclaim her legacies, she revisits her unsettled childhood and navigates the traditions of her ancestors. Her layered narratives invoke the contrasting spiritualities of her tribes: Islam, Christianity, and magic. A Coastline Is an Immeasurable Thing is a powerful cultural distillation of mythos and ethos, mapping the far-flung corners of the Black diaspora that Daniel inherits and inhabits. Through introspection, she probes the bonds and boundaries of Blackness, from bygone colonial empires to her present home in America.Shipping Notes

Fit is perfect and these have a very nice glossy finish
Size: 2002-2005 E46
Fit is perfect and these have a very nice glossy finish, which looks much better than the matte finish. As others have said, the driver's side grill lacks a cut out where the hood latch pull handle swings out when you need to lift the hood (compare the driver's side grill with the existing grill to see location and size of the cut out). I was able to cut an opening within 10 minutes and I haven't had any problems opening the hood since the installation.

Nice Finish, Decent Fit
Size: 2002-2005 E46
The fitment isn't perfect like the OEM grilles, but overall I was satisfied. These are just slightly smaller than the originals so there is a little play once installed. No need to modify the LH side grille for clearance to the hood latch though as other reviews mention. It looks like the design has been revised to address that problem. I was impressed with the paint finish and there weren't any noticeable blemishes like dust or dirt in the paint. These are probably the best and cheapest gloss black kidney grilles for E46 that are currently available. OEM grilles w/ gloss black are basically discontinued so we're all stuck with aftermarket if you want the gloss black shadowline look.

loose fitment
Size: 2002-2005 E46
I guess it's a hit or miss with this. You either get perfect fitment or poor fitment like I did, after the install it's very loose.

Awful fitment, poor quality
Size: 2002-2005 E46
Although not oem quality was expected, but I never thought to throw them away either. Grills look very nice, outside quality is good. Unfortunately the grills do not fit to its place and slip just after you close the hood. After several tries to make them stay in place I have broken 2 clamps. Finally I have removed these grills and went on with OEM ones.
Also, pay attention that you must drill a space for hood lock on the inner side (driver side grill does not have the factory space for hood lock handle).

Cheap but works
Size: 2002-2005 E46
Why did you pick this product vs others?:
These are cheap, but work. They don’t snap in well and don’t fit the edges perfectly. That being said, they’re cheap and fill the hole if your grill is broken or missing.
