Hornby OO Gauge BR B12 Class – 61516
Add a touch of early 20th-century express steam to your layout with the BR B12 Class 61516. This OO gauge model is a finely detailed replica of the classic inside-cylinder 4-6-0, complete with sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings. DCC ready, it can be upgraded with a 21-pin HM7000 decoder (sold separately) for digital operation.
Designed by Stephen D. Holden for the Great Eastern Railway, the original ‘S69’ locomotives first appeared in 1911. A total of 71 were built before the 1921 Grouping, with a further ten constructed by Beyer, Peacock for the LNER in 1928, by which time they were classified as B12s. Locomotive 1516 was built at Stratford Works in 1913, initially carrying GER livery and operating on express services from London Liverpool Street. Renumbered 8516 under the LNER in 1924, then 1516 in 1947, it became BR 61516 before withdrawal from Cambridge in July 1958.
