Roderic O'Conor painted this still life in 1893, the year he settled in Pont-Aven and began the bold experiments with colour and broken stroke that defined his career. Two apples and a pear arranged on a table become, in O'Conor's hands, a study in saturated reds, greens and golds laid down with the confident impasto he'd absorbed from Van Gogh and Gauguin. Small in scale, large in ambition.

About the Artist

Roderic O'Conor (1860–1940) was born in Roscommon and became one of the few Irish painters fully embedded in the Post-Impressionist movement. He spent most of his career in France and is now recognised as one of Ireland's finest modern painters.

For tiny dogs, these are great ways to entertain the pups and get them to clean their own teeth; I have had one for 5 years and the dogs never were able to harm the white parts. You do have to have their raw hide inserts but they're easy to find, not expensive, and again is great for boredom time for the dogs.

Pros: this is our dog’s favorite toy. She loves to eat but isn’t much for chewing. At 2 years old, her teeth were already looking pretty bad because she swallows everything whole.
