Procatavola Golden Peacock

Procatavola Golden Peacock (abbreviated Pcv. Golden Peacock) is an intergeneric hybrid resulting from a cross between Brassocattleya Richard Mueller × Prosthechea vitellina.

Features:

• Flower Color: Bright orange to dark yellow blooms, often with orange lines or red speckles on petals and a yellow funnel-like lip with red spots.

• Shape: Star-shaped flowers that make a showy display when in spike.

• Growth: Considered vigorous, with frequent blooming possible under good conditions.

Procatavola hybrids include genetic contributions from Prosthechea, Cattleya, and Brassavola — combining traits like color, flower form, and growth vigor.

Care Tips:

• Light:

  • Bright, indirect light — avoid intense midday sun.

  • Morning or late afternoon sun works well, similar to many Cattleya-alliance orchids.

• Temperature:

  • Warm to intermediate conditions: ~70–80 °F (21–27 °C) during the day.

  • Nights not below ~60 °F (15 °C).

• Watering:

  • Water thoroughly when the medium begins to dry out.

  • Reduce water frequency in cooler weather.

  • Mounted plants may need more frequent watering (daily or every other day in warm months).

• Humidity & Airflow:

  • Moderate to high humidity (50–80 %) is beneficial.

  • Ensure good air circulation to prevent rot or fungal issues.
