The Tamiya 1/24 Austin Mini Cooper 1275S Mk.I recreates one of the most celebrated versions of Britain’s most iconic small car. Designed by the legendary Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini redefined automotive engineering when it debuted in 1959, offering remarkable interior space and superb handling within an incredibly compact body.

Thanks to its innovative two-box layout, transversely mounted engine, and gearbox housed within the oil sump, the Mini was able to devote an impressive amount of space to passengers. Four-wheel independent suspension and small 10-inch wheels positioned at the corners of the body delivered a low, stable ride and exceptional agility.

The Mini Cooper 1275S Mk.I, released in 1964, represented the pinnacle of early Cooper development. Equipped with a 1275cc engine, it became a giant-killer in international competition, famously achieving overall victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965, and 1967. Austin and Morris versions were produced, differing mainly in grille design and badging, with this kit accurately depicting the distinctive Austin specification.
