This beautiful Indian silver pendant was handmade approximately 100 years ago. The work is just lovely, featuring an unidentified Hindu god or goddess. The work is quite bold, featuring a four-armed goddess holding a trident in one hand, a cup in another, and an hour-glass or sheaf of wheat in another.  Very cool pendant!  The pendant measures slightly under 2 inches high by 1.25 inches wide. The pendant weighs 11.7 grams.

The most common source of silver in 19^th and early 20^th century Indian silver work was old silver coins, which are approximately 80% silver, and that is what this pendant is made out of. This pendant was made in the Repousse technique, which is a metalworking technique in which thin sheets of malleable metal are ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.  The pendant has a solid silver backing.
