PRODUCER NOTES:
OVERVIEW: “Born in Bormio at the heart of the Stelvio National Park in 1875, for over a century Braulio has been representing the best of the family Alpine tradition and passion in craftsmanship that have been passed down from generation to generation. As an exceptional blend of herbs, roots, and berries, made from 100% natural ingredients, Braulio holds the inner spirit of the mountains, a complex multi-layered flavour that needs to be gradually sipped to be fully appreciated.”
TASTING: “APPEARANCE -Amber brown with reddish hints; NOSE -Notes of wood and roots, from which Gentian root stands out, rounded out with refreshing fragrances of juniper and aromatic herbs and wormwood on the finish; PALATE - Robust and intense taste of herbs and essential oils, followed by classic notes of wood and roots, and ending with a pleasant bitterness; AFTERTASTE - Full-bodied and persistent aftertaste with delicate bitter notes of Gentian root and wormwood.”
COMPOSITION: “Our ingredients are selected using a slow and traditional process like that of herbal remedies. There is much guessing and secret about type and number of the herb combination: some say 11, some say 13, others 15. Only 4 are known for sure: Wormwood, Yarrow, Juniper and Gentian”
AGING: “The liquid is placed in traditional aged Slavonian oak barrels which lie in a labyrinth of underground cellars, directly beneath Bormio old town, where it is left to infuse for up to two years. The timber used for Braulio’s barrels is the Quercus Petraea and the Quercus Pedunculata species of oak which – mixed together in proportions perfected by the craftsmanship of Garbellotto’s company, Braulio’s supplier and world leader in the sector of large barrel production – guarantee a wonderful bouquet. Wood is a living material, able to interact with the blend and release smells and aromas: if not aged in wood, Braulio Amaro simply won’t taste the same.”
