Picture a sunlit kitchen where breakfast chatter rises with steam. A placemat and coaster set waits at every place, inviting little hands to help set the table. This complete set includes placemats 11 by 8 inches and coasters 3.7 by 3.7 inches, all featuring a modern blue shell motif. High-end print technology keeps the design crisp through family meals, while a wood bottom adds warmth and stability. Easy care: wipe with a damp cloth, and they’re ready for the next gathering.

Designed for multi-generational appeal, these pieces invite grandparents to share stories while younger siblings learn to place mats correctly, noses pressed to pattern as they memorize the tale. The generous placemats protect the table during hearty breakfasts and messy weekend pancake feasts; the compact coasters protect tablets and tabletops during crafts and cocoa breaks. The blue spiral shell design lends a touch of coastal calm to holiday dinners, brunches, and casual weeknights alike, elevating any table setting with a unified look.

Beyond the surface, the set fosters routine and memory. Mealtime becomes a ritual—hands passing plates, laughter ringing, recipes retold—as the same design travels with your family from kitchen to kitchen. These pieces become a quiet thread in your family fabric, a reminder to savor togetherness, honor tradition, and pass on generosity, curiosity, and care as lasting legacy and family values.

Churchill's "wilderness years" at Chartwell were perhaps the "important years" in preparing him.
Format: Hardcover
A brilliant idea for a new perspective on Churchill, and an even better execution. The author literally examines the guestbook over a ten-year period at Chartwell, Churchill's country home. Not only are the names of the guests fascinating, but the subjects of their discussions are eyebrow-raising in multitudes of ways. From Einstein to German spies, from politicians to celebrities, Churchill was not only busy maintaining connections he deemed useful, but his efforts to stay well-informed were Herculean. He did not hold an elected office during these "wilderness years," but he dictated volumes of books (no doubt improving his oratory skill), built brick walls, gardened, painted, and traveled like his life depended on it. It is fascinating to gain these new insights into the man. Depressed by his recent failure to be re-elected, he went to work instead of retiring. He imposed upon himself a strict diet of information protein, personal network building, philosophical expansion, and extraordinary production. All the visitors, discussions, and interactions ultimately resulted in the most fantastic preparation imaginable for a man destined to lead his country as Prime Minister during the greatest war the world has ever known. I found the book extremely well-written yet easy to read, finishing it in just two days.

Excellent pre WW2 Churchill primer.
Format: Hardcover
This author has done an excellent job of explaining the role Churchill played in preparing Britain for WW2 despite being out of government for most of the 1930’s. The author is a curator and historian who has managed the collections at Chartwell, Churchill’s home during that time. Very well researched and easy to read. Anyone who studies 20th Century European history needs to read this book.

Book for Churchill fans
Format: Hardcover
Not an introduction to Churchill but fills out a period of his life that is often overlooked. Some fascinating insights into people who visited Chartwell. I really enjoyed this book, but it's not for everyone.

An excellent addition to the library of books about the life of Churchill.
Format: Hardcover
Excellent story of Churchill's years in the wilderness, warning of the growing threat of Nazi Germany from 1932 to the early of the war. Thoroughly researched and well written, given the complexities of what was going on contemporaneously.

Just like the PBS series....
Format: Hardcover
This book is a step, or two, deeper into the 'wilderness years' than the PBS series by the same name. But frankly, the series, available on YouTube, is a better buy (it's free) for the money and quite entertaining due to its great casting with folks like Robert Hardy, Sian Phillips, and Eric Porter. But, if you're a reader, this book is worth the effort and cost.
