The Highclere Series chess pieces are classic Staunton in design and are finished to an impeccable standard. Of particular note are the concave curved shanks and wide bases, and the conservative detailing of the knight is as traditional as it gets. With a 7.6cm king height, these chessmen are relatively compact but without compromise in excellence.

Each piece is polished by hand, balanced and weighted and has a green felted base.

The chessboard is high-gloss lacquered dark walnut and elm, made by Italian artisans. The finish offers a level of opulence and, practically, affords protection and strength to the board surface. The chessmen reflect beautifully when set up, and they glide effortlessly.

Finally, the set includes a flock-lined, solid sheesham chess piece case, hand-made and polished with beeswax.
