About The Atacama Mass Loading Plate
At Audio Trends, we want you to attain the best possible performance from your Hi-Fi System. If you have 'bookshelf' speakers then most likely you will stand-mount them...and speaker stand mass is critical to the performance of your speakers.
In order to get the best possible sound from your Atacama speaker stands, it is recommended that you add some extra mass to them. One intelligent way is to add the Atacama Mass Loading Plate to each base which adds 1.5kg. It is hidden from view, mounting under the base and underneath the Bamboo base panel for the Moseco range. It effectively increases the sound dampening, raises the stability of each support and reduces ringing. The Mass Loading Base Plate is made in the UK from Carbon Steel and comes painted in Satin black. Sold as a pack of 2 plates.
Atacama Atabites
When the main columns are filled with a high density inert filler like Atacama Atabites, the 'ringing' is reduced and you get a conically dead platform from which to position bookshelf style speakers. Featuring zinc coated micro-discs, Atabite inert filler gives increased density to volume and has a uniformed particulate size giving consistent sonic performance. The Zinc coating reduces any oxidization and degradation and enhances the visual aesthetics.
Note: Sonic results will also depend on speaker stand positioning, type of speaker, room size, type of electronics and cabling, listening position and personal taste. However, adding mass (weight) with an extra loading plate and filling the stands approximately two thirds with Atacama Atabites will deliver the best in acoustic performance.
