This stunning Sampler looks like an antique heirloom, and makes a beautiful gift for Mothers Day, a birthday or other special family occasion. It feels elegant and timeless, yet still suits today’s homes. Created to celebrate mothers, this is the kind of sampler that will be stitched with love and displayed with pleasure for years to come.

Although the original verse was inspired by my own daughters, I have also included a more general alphabet section so you can easily adapt the sampler for other family relationships or close friendships. You may choose to stitch it for parents and children, mothers and sons, fathers and sons, grandparents and grandchildren, or even a dear lifelong friend.  Simply replace the section shown on the model and make it your own. The alphabet is adjustable! 

As you stitch, you'll see it includes bands of specialty stitches, floral motifs, and snowy white Hardanger lace. At the top is a carnation in a basket, a traditional symbol of love. Below that is a panel of lace, followed by alphabet letters, delicate specialty stitches, and a beautiful Hardanger heart to represent affection and connection. At the bottom is another special panel of Hardanger lace that gives the whole design a rich and graceful finish.

This design was truly a labour of love. I hope you will love stitching it as much as I loved designing it. Personalize it with the smaller alphabet, and create something meaningful for a very special mother, child, new baby, dear friend, or even for yourself, in honour of someone you love.
