Megacerops is a genus of rhino-like brontotheres from the Eocene epoch, and one of the first giant mammals to evolve after the extinction of the dinosaurs. It was an odd-toed ungulate, meaning that it was a hoofed mammal with an odd number of toes on its feet, and therefore related to other perissodactyls such as rhinoceroses, horses, and tapirs. Despite Megacerops's resemblance to the rhinoceros, it was much larger and approached the size of the modern-day African forest elephant.
