This extended, workshop‑style session creates space to explore these foundations in more depth, while also examining the historical, social, and structural factors that influence LGBTQ+ inclusion today.
Developed by LGBTQ+ community members and subject matter experts, this four‑hour course expands on introductory concepts and invites participants into a more hands‑on, reflective learning environment. You’ll explore key terminology, gain insight into the experiences of trans and gender diverse people, and learn how discrimination and exclusion have shaped LGBTQ+ communities over time. The session also highlights current health priorities and the everyday actions individuals and organisations can take to foster safer, more affirming environments.
Through discussion, activities, and real‑world examples, you’ll build a well‑rounded understanding of LGBTQ+ communities and the role each of us can play—big and small—in strengthening inclusion across workplaces and community settings.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define LGBTQ+ and distinguish between key concepts related to gender, sexuality, and identity.
- Describe diverse LGBTQ+ experiences, including common experiences within the trans and gender diverse community.
