Etymologie:
adansonii = Michel Adanson (* 7. April 1727 in Aix-en-Provence; † 3. August 1806 in Paris) war ein französischer Botaniker, Ethnologe und Naturforscher.

Anmerkungen:
Im englischen wird Monstera adansonii mit "monkey leaf" (dt. Affenblatt) bezeichnet. Angeblich soll sich ein Affe hinter einem Monstera-Blatt versteckt haben, als die Pflanze entdeckt wurde. Dieser Entdecker sah den Affen mit dem Blatt vor dem Gesicht und taufte die Pflanze "Monkey Leaf". Monstera adansonii ist sehr robust und kann ohne Probleme an schattigen und halbschattigen Standorten, kletternd aber auch als Ampelpflanze kultiviert werden.
Monstera adansonii 'variegata' bringt weiße Blätter mit grüner Aderung hervor, die sich mit zunehmenden Alter in grün-weiße Blätter umfärben.
