Psilocybin Reagent: For the presumptive identification of Psilocybin in mushrooms. This test does not require a sequence in the Polytesting System. Can also be used after the Test A, B, and K sequence for presumptive verification.

Test Function

1. This reagent system presumptively identifies Psilocybin in mushrooms.

How to Use Test X

1. Remove clip and insert sample into test pack in an amount that would t inside this circle.
2. Samples are prepared as outlined below: For fresh mushrooms, cut stem in half and open. If active ingredient is present, blue/violet veins are visible. For dried mushrooms, cut the cap in half and place over a piece of white paper. Tap the mushroom and dried purple spores will fall out.
3. Reseal with clip and tap gently to ensure the material falls to the bottom of the pouch. 
4. With the printed side of the test pouch facing you, break ampules by squeezing the center of the ampule with the tips of the thumb and forefinger. Agitate gently and observe the color.
   
   

Interpretation of Resulting Colors

1. Agitate the first ampule for one minute, no color development.
2. After breaking the second ampule, a purple color will develop, indicating the presence of Psilocybin.

Caution:

A. Since these tests contain strong acids, it is suggested that Test F - Acid Neutralizer be used after testing and before disposal.

B. Before discarding used test packs, remove clip and add one measure of acid neutralizer from Test F.

C. Add slowly to prevent bubbling over.

D. DO NOT reseal the test pouch until the effervescence has completely stopped. 

E. Reseal pouch with clip and discard in a tamper-free disposal unit.

F. No attempt should be made to crush the glass particles after the ampoules are broken.

G. Antidote: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. If swallowed, do not give emetics. Contact a physician.
