Libec TH-Z2 Video Tripod & ALX S8 Slider System: The Ultimate Hybrid Cinematography Kit

In the world of professional videography, achieving smooth cinematic motion often requires lugging around separate, bulky setups for static tracking, panning, and sliding. The Libec TH-Z2 Video Tripod System with the ALX S8 Slider breaks down these barriers. This unified, modular production kit is meticulously engineered for independent filmmakers, event videographers, and corporate content creators who demand a lightweight, highly adaptable, and professional-grade camera motion system.

By combining Libec's robust TH-Z2 dual-base video tripod with the ultra-smooth ALX S8 linear slider, this package provides a seamless workflow. Creators can transition from a traditional fluid head setup to multi-axis tracking shots in a matter of seconds.

The Magic of the Libec Dual-Head Design

At the center of this hybrid workflow is the Libec TH-Z H fluid head. Traditional fluid heads limit your mounting options, forcing you to choose between a ball base for a tripod or a flat base for sliders. Libec eliminates this restriction with its innovative Dual-Head specification, featuring a 75mm half-ball base with a flat bottom.

  • On the Tripod: Drop the 75mm half-ball straight into the TH-Z2 tripod bowl for instant, traditional leveling.

  • On the Slider: Unscrew the bowl clamp to reveal the integrated 3/8"-16 flat-mount threads. This allows you to screw the fluid head directly onto the ALX S8 slider carriage, giving you full pan-and-tilt control while your camera glides across the rail.

ALX S8 Slider: Wobble-Free, Zero-Friction Tracking

The Libec ALX S8 is a premium 31.5-inch (800mm) camera slider that delivers a generous 28 inches (708mm) of linear travel distance. What sets the ALX S8 apart from standard linear rails is its advanced rolling mechanism.

It features eight high-performance ball bearings placed strategically along the top and angled sides of the track. These bearings hug the aluminum rail tightly, entirely eliminating microscopic side-to-side wobble or vertical play during a tracking shot.

  • Custom Drag and Control: A built-in, spring-loaded friction knob allows you to adjust the carriage tension based on your camera rig's weight.

  • Rock-Solid Lock: A separate brake knob allows you to securely lock the carriage at any position along the track for safe transit or stationary shots.

  • Stand-Alone Versatility: If you want to shoot low-profile tracking shots on the ground or a tabletop, the slider features collapsible legs with height-adjustable feet to tackle uneven terrain. On a flat surface, the standalone slider boasts a massive 33 lb (15 kg) payload capacity.

TH-Z2 Tripod: Lightweight Stability with Quick Setup

When mounted to the tripod, the entire system acts as a rigid, unyielding base for your camera movements. The Libec TH-Z2 video tripod legs feature a 2-stage aluminum construction that provides a wide working height range from 28.7 to 64.2 inches (73 to 163 cm).

To maximize structural rigidity when supporting the side-to-side weight shifts of a slider, the tripod includes an integrated, telescopic mid-level spreader. This configuration keeps the legs locked securely in place while preventing twisting or buckling. Furthermore, improved rubber feet ensure the tripod stays planted on slick surfaces like studio floors or polished concrete.

Effortless Workflows & Quick-Release Action

Time on set is money, and the TH-Z2/ALX S8 kit is built for maximum speed. The fluid head utilizes a one-touch snap-in quick-release camera plate system. Compatible with industry-standard Manfrotto and Sachtler heads, you can mount or detach your camera package instantly. The plate features a sliding range of +/- 1.2 inches (+/- 30mm), allowing you to perfectly balance front-heavy lenses or full cinema rigs.

To assist with leveling in dark or challenging environments, the fluid head features an illuminated bubble level, ensuring your horizons stay perfectly straight throughout long shoot days.

Rigid Production Build with Travel Convenience

Despite its multi-functional design, the complete system maintains a highly manageable physical profile. The fluid head and tripod combination easily supports a payload capacity of 11 lbs (5 kg), making it suitable for mirrorless cameras and lenses, mid-sized digital cinema cameras (like the Sony FX6, Canon C70, or Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera), and fully rigged production kits.

When it is time to wrap up, the entire system packs away into the premium Libec RC-10 padded carrying case (included with the kit). This protective nylon bag keeps your tripod, fluid head, slider, and accessories safely corralled during transit.

favorite slipper ever
Size: 8-9, Color: Charcoal Faux Fur
I love these slippers. They look great with pants tucked in. Incredibly warm and comfortable. I wear them almost every day. Fit is true to size. They stay up but are not tight at all. On top of that I get compliments on them. Highly recommend.

Favorite Slippers Of All Time
Size: 6.5-7.5, Color: Charcoal Faux Fur
ETA 7/2024: So I ended up buying a size 5-6. They fit better around the top and sides of my foot but the sole is a bit small. The 6.5-7.5 sole fits better but the material around the top and sides is roomy so it bunches up. Sigh. I still love these slippers but the fit is frustrating. I'm obsessed with these slipper boots! They are so cute and comfy. They look especially good with leggings but I also like that I can tuck other types of pajama pants into them. I'm short and have to fold the waist of most pajama pants so they're not super long on me, but with these boot slippers on I don't have to worry about my pant bottoms dragging on the floor since I can just tuck them in. I like that they have rubber soles. I love the look of the faux fur but not sure how easy they will be to wash because of it. I wear a 7 or 7.5 and I got the 6.5-7.5 size. Even with thick socks on they are roomy. Because they are house shoes it doesn't matter much but I probably could've sized down. I like the way they look so much I might buy a size down and use that pair for wearing outside of my house. Some other reviews said they have a strong smell but mine did not.

Cozy warm, overall a good slipper!
I ordered a size Medium and I normally wear a women's size 8 US / 39 EUR and they fit well. According to the box, a Medium in Acorn sizing is Women's 6.5 - 7.5, but I do think these run a little large which is why I went with the Medium vs. Large. The boot part fits well, not too snug or too loose, and it stays up if it has something to adhere to (like over pants), otherwise it would slide down my bare leg. I am super sensitive to scratchiness lol, so I keep the boot part over pants because it is a little scratchy to me. These slippers are nice and cozy, so they keep my feet / ankles warm. The footbed provides a nice cushion and the soles/suede guards are strong but without making you feel like you are wearing actual shoes / boots. I have noticed that the footbed does not have a lot of rebound so there are definitely impressions of my toes inside... which means no one else will want to wear them... haha! I've also noticed the seams seem prominent on the inside, I wish they were a less noticeable, but that is just one of my hangups. So, the only reason I am giving a 4 instead of 5 is the inside is not as soft as I'd like and the seam problem. Regardless, I wear these all the time at home (which is where most of us all are right now) and I am happy with them overall. Oh, and I got the Buffalo Check pattern and it's super cute and fun!

Soft, Warm and Cozy
I have no idea how these stay up, probably magic. I'm tall so it's challenging to find boot style slippers that are long enough. If support or thick soles aren't an issue, these are the best I've ever found! My ankles and calves have never BEEN so warm; these are my go-to's in the evening. They're easier to walk in with socks but, without, they're floppy and loose. I'd hesitate to size down because it's more the lack of structure in the foot, not length. They wash well (air dry); still soft, warm and cozy. Inserts could probably be added to help with support. I tried them because I found them at a fantastic sale price but I'm buying another pair now, for winter. I'm a slipper person and I definitely notice the quality of materials in Acorns, when I compare them with other slippers.

My year round footwear
Size: 6.5-7.5, Color: Sunset Cable Knit
I literally LIVE in these "slippers". Inside, summer, winter, outside when I can. I have hardwood floors, so even summertime, they protect my feet. They give me enough cush, but not like structured slippers that feel more like shoes. I go through about 2-3 a year, but well worth it.
