She was married to my father for a short time but divorced when I was five. She never drove and never owned a car. She rented all her life and often lived in substandard housing. Personal tragedies had prevented her from becoming a nurse when she graduated from high school. However, she was very intelligent, strong willed, and stubborn. She had much difficulty expressing her feelings verbally, but she had a way with written words. She encouraged her children to read and always bought little books for them at Christmas. She became a Christian at age 55 and her whole world and outlook changed. She completely adored her Savior and was anxiously waiting for Him when she passed away at 84 years old.
