The Pelikan Souveran M400 Fountain Pen - Black & Green embodies the signature look that has defined Pelikan for generations. Compact, light in the hand, and fitted with a responsive 14k gold nib, it brings together daily practicality and classic German refinement in a proven piston-filling design.
Craftsmanship & Design
The striped green barrel is crafted from cellulose acetate, offering depth, subtle translucency, and the recognizable Pelikan character. A polished black resin cap and grip section provide a crisp visual contrast, complemented by gold-plated trim and the iconic beak clip. The screw-on cap protects the nib while traveling and posts comfortably for those who prefer added length in hand. Every detail serves both function and form, resulting in a timeless writing instrument that wears its heritage gracefully.
Writing Experience
A two-tone 14k gold nib delivers smooth, confident strokes with a touch of spring, rewarding light pressure and precise control. Available in extra fine, fine, medium, and broad, it caters to everything from compact notes to expressive signatures. Pelikan’s internal piston mechanism offers generous ink capacity and reliable flow, encouraging long, uninterrupted writing sessions with bottled ink. The striped barrel’s discreet translucency doubles as an ink view, making level checks intuitive. A screw-in nib unit further supports easy maintenance and thoughtful customization within the series.
Brand Heritage
Pelikan’s reputation for dependable piston-fillers reaches back to the earliest decades of the 20th century, and the green-striped aesthetic traces its lineage to the celebrated 400 models of the 1950s. The Souveran M400 continues that tradition in modern form, made in Germany with a focus on enduring reliability and refined everyday performance.
